Full Off-Script Columns' Publications' Content Roundup
(every significant piece over the past month across each Off-Script Columns publication)
So…since I have a habit of posting a bunch of different pieces to multiple different publications, I decided to do this weekly roundup thing that’ll also include albums I listen to, movies I watch, and TV I watch for each week (I measure my weeks Fridays-Thursdays) since music/cinema/tv analysis is my schtick. I’m also hoping to post restaurant and maybe even cafe logs again, but this weekly roundup is mostly for organization purposes since my Virgo Rising ass likes being organized and systemized lol.

Inside Llewyn Davis (Joel Coen / Ethan Coen, 2013)

Restaurant Logs
The Counter
A premium burger restaurant with excellent quality and a variety of options, but a place one should only attend regularly with a wide enough budget or on occasion if there’s a tight budget.
Homeroom
An iconic Oakland staple of creative Mac n’ Cheese dishes.
Kitchen Story
A solid option amongst the many on College Avenue (in Oakland).
La Piñata
Formerly a decent Mexican cuisine chain (sort of) that no longer has much flavor-wise.
Sweet Maple
Excellent sophisticated breakfast dishes, the best breakfast restaurant in SF.
The Red Accordion
A super spiffy home-converted bar in Vancouver.
The Old Spaghetti Factory
An aesthetically endearing Italian restaurant in Vancouver’s endearing Gastown area.
Experimental (and Lengthy) Pieces
My PacNorth trip piece I wrote two years ago re-posted here (a two-parter):
My issues/experiences with this system as a L1—maybe even L2—Autistic person:
A little analysis and observations regarding a screenplay-formatted piece where I have dinner with four different versions of myself:
I Had Pizza w/ 4 Versions of Myself
Zachary’s (Chicago Pizza) on Grand Avenue does display some cool art, btw.
Detailing why one of my four fav albums of all time feels like such a mirror (don’t worry abt me tho lol):
A (partial) description on why I’m adamant about the fact that I have two different personas (I think Alter Egos can be helpful for people and it’s something a good amount of artists do):

Two Different Timelines Formulated from A Dream and Reality (WARNING: Incredibly lengthy/short story-esque)

TV Stuff
Side Note: I’m going to make a SLIGHT change to my TV Episode Notes format moving forward just because I think it would make them feel more efficient and “full”, I guess
BoJack Horseman Season 1
The animation is pretty stiff throughout this season, but you can’t deny the impeccable writing that begins halfway through the season. Plus, one of the best episodes of television is included here.
BoJack Horseman Season 1 Review
The Verdict: The precedent has been set with a few excellent episodes showing this show’s potential. Some shows start off lackluster in areas before they ascend–this is one of those shows. Themes of psychology, showbiz, and addiction are already set with lots to build off.
Peaky Blinders Season 1, Episode 1
Super lush and a great way of introducing multiple plot lines for the season. Cool ass cast too.
NANA Season 1, Episode 1
Excellent storyline precedent set from the jump with a splendid script.
BoJack Horseman Season 2, Episode 1
The new precedent and storyline are both things set with BoJack’s new opportunity.
BoJack Horseman Season 2, Episode 2
The Jack-Ass is at it again and we get a *bit* of closure/continuation of Season 1’s storyline that we didn’t see at the end of Season 1 (in a way).
